Panasonic Avionics Revolutionizes In-Flight Entertainment

Panasonic Avionics Corporation, which specializes in in-flight entertainment and communications solutions, recently unveiled the new Panasonic HD-AUDIO, an all-new audio solution for in-flight entertainment that was developed along with Soundchip SA. The new technology boasts seven new features that have never been used before on an aircraft, providing passengers with a fully digital sonic experience and the best quality digital surround sound to date. Other features also include a passenger-controlled equalizers, noise cancellation, and bluetooth integration with mobile devices.

The most impressive features, arguably, is the ability to communicate with flight attendants without having to remove headphones. The CEO of Panasonic Avionics originally began the joint venture with Soundchip SA in 2011, when the need to modernize in-flight audio was recognized.

The result is a new fully-digital technology that is free of clicks, pops, and interference. Panasonic HD-AUDIO also employs advanced algorithms that assist airline operators in monitoring the connected headset’s status of all their passengers. Panasonic and Soundchip plans to put this technology to regular service by airline headphone manufacturers with the tools to develop HD-AUDIO compatible headsets.
