AAR sells Telair to TransDigm for $725 Million

Headquartered in Wood Dale, Illinois, AAR Corporation is a global aerospace and defense contractor that supports their customers through two operating segments: Aviation Services and Technology Products. In February 2015, the AAR Corp announced that it has agreed to sell its Telair Cargo Group to TransDigm for USD$725 million in cash. The Telair Cargo Group (which is composed of Telair International, Telair U.S., and Nordisk Aviation Products) will discontinue operations starting in the third quarter of FY 2015 and is estimated to receive about USD$3 million in revenues.

The acquisition promises success for all parties involved. "This is another sizable acquisition opportunity that meets our strategic, operational and value-creation criteria," stated W. Nicholas Howley, TransDigm's chairman and CEO, in a statement. David P. Storch, chairman and CEO of AAR, said, “We are confident that TransDigm's leadership will ensure a strong future for the Telair group, its employees and customers.”

AAR employs over 6,000 people across 17 countries and in 2011 acquired Telair International. More than 80% of Telair revenues are from the commercial aerospace market, with the balance from the military aerospace market. Approximately 95% of the revenues are from proprietary products.
