Philippine Airlines selects the A350 XWB for future long haul fleet

On February 17^th 2016, Airbus had a press release on Philippine Airlines. According to Airbus, Philippine Airlines is providing high efficiency and comfort for flights going to the US and Europe. There was a Memorandum of Understanding between Airbus and Philippine Airlines for an order of new planes. This includes size A350-900s along with six other purchase options. The Memorandum of Understanding was announced during the Singapore Airshow by Fabrice Bregier, the President and CEO of Airbus along with Jaime J. Bautista, the President and COO of Philippine Airlines.

There will be three different types of premium layouts for the A350-900 that Philippine Airlines has configured. These three layouts will be for non-stop flights from Manila to the US west coast and New York. Not only this, but the lay out will be in flights going towards Europe as well. The aircraft will be able to travel non-stop from New York to Manila (which is around 8000 nautical miles) all year round plus having a full passenger load.

The A350 XWB is considered the newest generation airline and also the latest member of the Airbus wide-body family. Airbus has over 700 firm orders for the A350 from over 40 customers worldwide. By doing so, this makes the A350 one of the most successful wide-body aircraft ever.
