On February 23, 2016, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced that it will launch a new system testing for the Gulfstream G600 iron bird. In doing so, this shows that the company is continually committed to study and improve the development of the G600 aircraft program.

The Gulfstream G600 has a match speed of 0.85, capable of holding 8 passengers, and have a range of over 6000 nautical miles. This is considered one of the fastest aircraft in its class without sacrificing fuel efficiency and comfortability.

The cabin is 7 feet and 11 inches wide with a height of 6 feet and 4 inches. The cabin also has a length of 45 feet and 2 inches making it the longest cabin in the class. The engineers at Gulfstream are able to inspect different aspects of the plane such as flight control, landing gear, breaks, and other mechanical systems including hydraulics in the lab.

Dan Nale, the senior vice president of Programs, Engineering and Test for Gulfstream talks about how first flight testing goes.

"This first flight sets in motion the testing and validation required for the G600’s actual first flight."

He then goes on to talk about how they can proceed base on the first flight test.

"With the iron bird, we can confirm the characteristics of the system components, improve the integration maturity, make modifications and provide those benefits in a lab environment, all while on the ground and still in the design stage to the benefit of the flight-test aircraft. Having this resource enhances safety and streamlines the testing process."

The G600 has features such as the Symmetry Flight Deck, integrated touchscreen controllers, active control sidesticks, a vision system that is highly enhanced as well as the Honeywell Primus Epic avionics. Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has made over 2,000 aircraft since it was founded in 1958.
