Wizz Air Signs Biggest Single Order for 110 Airbus A321neo Aircraft

The largest airline carrier serving Central and Eastern Europe, Wizz Air, has signed a deal with Airbus at the 51st Le Bourget International Paris Air Show. This deal includes the latest and greatest A321neo Airbus Cabin Flex configuration, which is comprised of 239 seats with an 18-inch comfort standard. Currently operating 61 aircraft with over 380 routes from 22 bases, Wizz Air has signed for the largest single order for the A321neo aircraft with 110 aircraft on order. Wondering how much 110 narrow-body twin-engine jet airliners cost? A petty $14 billion.

The A321neo aircraft has grown rapidly in popularity, with good reason:  the A321neo performs at an unmatched level of efficiency. Providing the lowest operating costs of any single aisle aircraft, the A320neo aircraft family delivers 15% fuel burn reduction at entry into service, and 20% by 2020. These efficiency levels are attained through state-of-the-art engine technologies, recent cabin innovations, and overall efficiency improvements. The A320neo aircraft family is comprised of three different sized aircraft: the A319neo, the A320neo, and the A321neo. These aircraft can seat from 100 to 240 passengers. With more than 6,500 aircraft delivered and more than 11,700 additional orders, the A320 aircraft family will serve more than 300 operators worldwide. Wizz Air, a low-cost Hungarian airline, has the largest fleet out of any Hungarian airline. In the year 2014 alone, Wizz Air carried around 15.8 million passengers to 35 countries. As of June 2015, the Wizz Air fleet consists of 61 aircraft with 160 additional aircraft on order.
