Emirates to Retire 50 Jets over Next 3 Years

Emirates, an airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has recently decided to retire over 50 aircraft within the next three years, as part of its modernization plan. Next year in 2016, the company will retire 26 airplanes, which include one Boeing 777-300ER, two Boeing 777-300s, six Boeing 777-200ERs, one A340-500, four A340-300s, as well as 12 A330-300s. In order to replace these retired airplanes, Emirates will be adding 36 new aircrafts in 2016, which include 16 Boeing 777-300ERs and 20 Airbus A380s, the world’s largest passenger aircraft. Boeing Completes Detailed Design for 787-10 Dreamliner

Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 Completes First Test Run

Rolls-Royce has a long history in the aircraft engine business, going as far as 1906. Today, it is the second-largest manufacturer of aircraft engines. The Rolls-Royce family expands by adding the Trent 7000, their seventh generation of the Trent family of engines. UK Buys Boeing P-8 Poseidon Surveillance Aircraft in $18b Defense Boost

Bulking up its military spending due to concerns over ISIS and Russia, the UK announced that it placed an order with Boeing for nine P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. In order to beef up Britain’s defense capabilities, Prime Minister David Cameron stated in his Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) speech that the British government expects to spend $270 billion on defense equipment over the next decade-$18 billion of which will be going towards purchasing aircraft such as the nine Boeing P-8 Poseidons.
